Severe alveolar ridge resoption sometimes complicates rehabilitation with traditional modalities. Local conditions of the edentulous area may be unfavorable for implant installation. Especially, severe vertical defect of the alveolar bone may hinder the use of dental implants, if done, the function and esthetic aspect will be compromised. Alveolar distraction osteogenesis is an useful method to restore atrophic alveolar ridge vertically. 2 female patients visited our hospital for prosthetic treatment, and trasfered to our department for surgical treatment for prosthetics. But, they could not be treated by traditional full denture and implant because of severe alveolar bone resorption. The alveolar ridge was severely atrophic and vertical augmentation was mandatory to install dental implants in their ideal position. So aveolar distraction and bone graft were done and implants were placed. The patients have been followed up until now.
